🏵 Happy 2024 - The Year of the Dragon 🐉
Edition #18 with the hottest events, jobs and news in the community & startup space.
A big Happy New Year from The CC team down under 🎉🦘
Our team is currently off on our summer break either exploring the far corners of Indonesia, road tripping the coasts of Australia, renovating houses or spending time with family. This means we’re also very grateful for Beehiiv’s newsletter scheduling function 😅
Which brings us to…
A big welcome to our first 2024 edition of The Community Roundup 👋
We’ll keep sending this reliable newsletter on the 1st day of every month this year to keep you up to date with the community industry. That’s another 12 editions to look forward to 😎
In this edition, you can read up on how we’re celebrating international Community Manager Appreciation Day on 22 Jan, hot jobs in the community space, events coming up, a new Career Cohort program we’re exploring as well as our very new ‘Community Builder of the Month’ section featuring fellow CC’ian, Kennie @ StartSpace, who shares the tech tools she can’t live without!
Plus, we’re reading up on our Chinese astrology 🤓 To give you the inside scoop, 2024 marks the Year of the Dragon, symbolising strength, vitality, and good fortune. Dragons are associated with ambition, intelligence, and leadership, making this a great year for embracing change and pursuing bold endeavours for both personal and collective growth.
Ooft. We love that. A big bold and ambitious year. To help you lean into this theme, we’re running a free 2024 Goal Setting Workshop here that you’re welcome to join.

Hold up. What does ‘the community industry’ mean anyway?
The professional community industry encompasses the strategies and practices that leverage community building to elevate businesses. Whether it's launching private online spaces, turning your audience into loyal advocates, or creating regular in-person connections, these tactics are transforming the way we do business.
It's not just about creating content and great products anymore. It's about actually creating bonds BETWEEN your customers and creating a space where they belong on a deeper level (only if they want and the business needs it though).
In simpler terms, it's about the role of human connection in business.
