So let me tell you a challenging truth I learned the hard way.

Building a community can be tough, exhausting and lonely.

I felt it back in 2021 when I quit my job and started The Community Collective from a 17-person meetup. You wear every hat. You feel like you’re doing three jobs in one. And half the time, nobody around you really gets what you do.

So why do it alone?

Last year I said to myself “in 2026 I’m actually just going to join a community for ME. One where I can just show up as a member. Contribute. Learn. And gain value. A space where I can be a community member, not a manager.”

I had realised that I had been building and cultivating so many communities for so many other people that I kinda forgot to join one for myself.

So obvs I can’t join The Community Collective as I help run this community (which I love). So I joined a community hosted by Mykel Dixon called Wild Underground. 12 people. 12 months with 3 IRL retreats together per year in Australia.

It’s been magical.

A breath of fresh air.

A space to lean on others.

A space to share my struggles in private.

And get out of my own head.
